Bible Numerology
The way I determine the use of a number in the Word of God, the Authorized 1611 King James Bible is by the number of times that it is used throughout the Scriptures.
Number 1
The number 1 is used most of the time as a reference to the oneness of God. We serve the living and true God and He is one God; Deity, the everlasting Father. There are many gods spelled with a little "g" such as idols or pictures. You can make an idol out of anything. These are gods. But, when we talk about the one living and true God, we are talking about Jehovah God, God the Father. When we talk about Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost, we are speaking about the other members of the Godhead. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost are all co-equal in the Godhead, but in reference to God Himself, He is always spoken of in the singular.
References to this would be Isaiah 46:9, 45:5,6,15,17,18,21, and 23, I Timothy 4:10, John 1:1-18, 6:29,47, 10:34,35 Isaiah 12:2, 37:16-20. In Isaiah 12:2 the reference is to Jehovah God which is the Lord God and you find in the Old Testament it speaks of God, and God, and God and then it will say Lord God. When it is a reference to the Lord, it is a reference to God the Father using the name Jehovah. This is the redemptive name of God Almighty.
In Isaiah 40:3-8, 9:6, 7:14, 44:6-28, 43:11, 44:8, 24-28, many of these such as Isaiah 7:14 and 9:6 show God taking on flesh. In Isaiah 9:6 He is to be the everlasting Father in a body of flesh. In Isaiah 7:14 He is to become a child in the virgin birth. These verses deal with the oneness of God, Isaiah 46:5-10. Some find it hard to understand how God can be one but manifested in many ways. This comes from a lack of knowledge of the Scriptures because when it speaks of God, it always makes it clear that He is one. When it speaks of the Godhead, which it does, the very first word in Genesis 1:1 says, " In the beginning God...", and God is the third word in the verse in the Hebrew language and the word is Elohim. In this verse Elohim is a uni-plural noun in the Hebrew language but it does not mean that there is more than one God. It simply means that God has manifested himself into three personages. Elohim is found in the Hebrew language many times and translated as El or Elah. The English form of it is the word God. If you have an old Scofield Bible there is a good reference on page 3. He explains it but he goes into the redemptive name of God, also.
Every one of the following references deals with the oneness of God and has to do with just one God: Deuteronomy 32:39-43, Psalm 96:5-6, I Timothy 1:17, 3:16, 6:4-16, Psalm 104, Psalm 106:14, Zechariah 12:10, Micah 5:2, Proverbs 30:1-3, Revelation 1:18, Revelation 19:1,11, Isaiah 50:6, 52:14, 53:1-12, 37:16-20, 45:5-6, Deuteronomy 6:4, Mark 12:29, God is just one God, not two. In the New American Standard, John 1:18 indicates there are two Gods. God is one. The N.A.S.V. is Satan's bible.
Number 2
There are two testaments, the Old and the New. There are two poles, North and South. The disciples were told to go out two by two. In the Scriptures there are two places for souls. For the saved, it is heaven and for the lost it is hell. Jesus went to hell in the place of the believer and the soul of Jesus was a burnt offering there. There are two witnesses of God: Moses and Elijah and they are called the two olive trees, one upon the right side of the candlestick and one upon the left side (Zechariah 4:11). They stand by the God of the whole earth. God has two Kingdoms: the Kingdom of God (John 3) which is spiritual and the Kingdom of Heaven (Amos 9:11, Matthew 3:1) which is literal. There are two natures in the believers. In Romans 7, Paul deals with the number two because he is dealing with man's two natures: the old Adamic nature and the new nature from God which cannot sin. (I John 3:9).
Number 3
The number of the Holy Godhead is three. In Matthew 3, John the Baptist begins to preach of the Kingdom of Heaven. In verse 3 he tells them that his is the voice of one crying in the wilderness, prepare the way of the Lord. In Isaiah 40 (forty is the number of testing) the Lord was tested forty days in the wilderness. Moses was forty days on the mountain, etc. You find the very same prophesy found in Matthew 3:3 and it has to do with the Godhead because the Pharisees came to John the Baptist and he told them in verse 11 that he baptized with the baptism of repentance with water. But, there was one standing among them who would baptize with the Holy Ghost. In verse 13, "Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him" and we find John telling him no, "I have need to be baptized of thee...". The Godhead is shown here. Jesus is in the water in verse 15 (5x3) and in verse 16 (8x2) He comes up out of the water and the Spirit of God descends upon Him like a dove and in verse and in verse 17 (8x2x1) you find the Father speaking from Heaven saying, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." The Father is speaking from Heaven in verse 17, the holy Spirit of God descending like a dove, and in verse 15 the Son of God is in the water. Thus, the Godhead, three personages; one God.
In Revelation 13 we have anti-god, antichrist and anti-spirit, once again the trinity (the Devil's trinity). In the Godhead, Jesus Christ as a person was on the cross in a body and when he committed His spirit back to the Heavenly Father, the body went into the tomb, the spirit went to the Father and the soul went into hell (fire and torments). A person is three parts also, having a body, a soul and a spirit. (I Thessalonians 5:23). In the same way anti-god, antichrist, and the false prophet form the unholy godhead. In the book of Revelation we find the antichrist assassinated, anti-god descending on him. Antichrist in the body and the false spirit raising him from the dead. The antichrist has a death, a burial and a resurrection. The same three things that Jesus Christ had. In Zechariah 11:17 it says the idol shepherd will be slain with a sword and his right eye will be put out and his right arm will be dried up. This is a reference to antichrist and how he will be killed. This is proof that he is a person, not a system (Rev. 13-18).
Paul tells us we have three heavens. 1. The air around the earth. 2. Stars and planets. 3. The abode of God (Psalms 48:1,23). Paul tells us in II Corinthians 12:1,2 that he knew a man who was caught up to the third heaven. This is one way we know there are just three heavens and not seven, as some religions teach.
In Isaiah 14:13 the devil says he will ascend into heaven five times. Five is the number of death. He said that he was going to ascend into heaven and overthrow God. We know that he failed of course.
Number 4
The number 4 is a relationship in the Scriptures. The Lord set things in order in fours. The camp of Israel is an example. When the Israelites camped they were to be on the four sides of the tabernacle. There were to be three tribes on the North, three to the South, three to the East, and three to the West making up the twelve tribes of Israel.
We have four seasons upon the earth; winter, summer, fall and spring.
There are four major points on a compass; East, North, South, and West. In the Scriptures it deals with Jerusalem as being the center of the earth and everything moving to the West, which is the third point on the compass going right from North.
There are four gospels. The four gospels are Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
We also have four gospels taught in the New Testament which are the gospel of the Kingdom of God, the Gospel of the Kingdom of Heaven, the Everlasting Gospel and the Gospel of Grace. Also, there is a gospel that Paul refers to as a false gospel (Galatians 4:4 and Matthew 4:4)
There are four beasts pictured around the throne of God.
New Jerusalem is foursquare. It's heigh, length and breadth are the same.
The high priests breastplate was foursquare.
There were four rows of three stones set in each row with the names of the twelve tribes of Israel upon them.
Number 5
Most people preach five as the number of grace, but I find it more times in the Scriptures referring to death. In Genesis 5:5 Adam lived 930 years and he died. In the New Testament and in Acts 5 there is the death of two people, Ananias and Sapphira. They had lied unto the Holy Ghost and as a result of their lie, God killed them.
The words devil, death, Jesus, Judas and world all have five letters. Jesus is the eternal Son of God. He has everlasting and eternal life. Judas is the antichrist and he is the eternal son of death.
About 90% of the fives I find in the AV refer to death. For instance, there were five major wounds in Christ's body. He was wearing five garments (John 19:23).
David had five stones.
Benjamin got five times as much food from Joseph than any of the rest, when they went to the land of Egypt.
If you want to preach five as grace that's fine, but grace has five letters in it and in order to bring about grace to you and to me, it took the death of the Son of God, Jesus which has five letters.
I Corinthians 5:1-5 is the sin unto death for a believer.
I John 5:16 is the sin unto death.
Number 6
The number 6 is the number of man.
Man was created on the sixth day and things happen to man in order of sixes.
The antichrist will have the number 666.
Solomon had the gold weighed to him 666 talents of gold (I Kings 10:14).
The statue Nebuchadnezzar raised up had the dimensions 6x6x6.
It is also interesting because we are now living in the sixth day of time. There were to be seven 1,000 year days on this earth. We are now living in the sixth day, which incidentally, is the fifth dispensation (a time period). The fifth one took the death of the Son of God in order to bring about the body which he would have, that is the church.
Number 7
The number 7 is always God's number for perfection. If you double seven to get fourteen and add 21 and 28 you will find order all through the Scriptures. Isaiah 7:14 refers to the virgin, and Jesus Christ being born.
In Genesis 1:1 there are seven words in Hebrew; twenty-eight letters (7x4), fourteen letters in the subject (7x2) and fourteen in the predicate (7x2).
God is the third person in the verse in Hebrew (ten letters are in English). God does things in sevens. In John 1:14 (twice seven) is the incarnation of the word of God.
There are seven primary colors and seven notes on the piano.
Every seven years the cells in the body change.
There are seven continents, seven seas, etc.
There were to be seven 1,000 year periods of time upon the earth with the seventh never ending as it goes on into the perfect age.
The book of Acts is the transition book between the Old Testament and the New.
It has twenty-eight chapters (7x4). In the 20th chapter and verse 28 (7x4) the blood is God's.
In Colossians 1:14 (7x2) is a reference to the blood of Jesus Christ (God) being shed on the cross of Calvary for man's redemption. (John 1:14).
There are seven baptisms but only one will save you (I Corinthians 12:12,13).
Isaiah 14 is the fall of Satan (7x2).
Ezekiel 28 deals with Satan before he fell. He was a perfect, created being at the time.
In the book of Revelation we find seven personages.
There are seven angels, seven seals, seven woes, and seven trumpets.
There are also seven dispensations that are taught upon the earth.
There are seven thunders in the book of Revelation which are not lawful for them to write. John was told not to write about them. In my own opinion, I think the seven thunders were so bad that man could not comprehend what the seven thunders would be like.
The AV1611 was seven years in the making, until the final copy was given to the people. From 1604-1607 was the preliminary study. From 1607-1611 they were in the actual translation. During the last nine months they worked on the final copy, which had taken them a total of seven years to produce. This is a blessing to me in itself.
In Revelation 4 there are seven Spirits of God, seven stars, seven churches, and seven candlesticks. We find the statement "this book mentioned seven times.
Seven instances of being "Caught Up" with God:
1. Enoch: He cannot be one of the two witnesses in the book of Revelation 11 because he is a type of the saint of God who is brought up at the catching up of the saints of the church with the Lord and will never die (Genesis 5:23,24, Jude 14,15, Hebrews 11:5,6)
2. II Kings 2:11 This is interesting since the number two divides two people out of the Old Testament who were caught up. They were Elijah and Enoch. Elijah went up in a whirlwind.
3. Jesus Christ in Acts 1:19.
4. The church, being defined as the body of Christ beginning on the day of Pentecost and running until catching away of the saints in ii Thessalonians 4:13,17, I Corinthians 15:51-58.
5. The catching up of the tribulation saints in Matthew 24:40-41.
6. The catching up of the two witnesses in Revelation 11:3-12.
**Some people put the two witnesses with the tribulation saints. This is possible. But, if that be the case, then there is definitely a catching up of the 144,000 and they go where the Lamb of God is. So, there is that catching up or away also.
Revelation 14 (7x2) deals with the 144,000 again. In chapter 7, the number of perfection and if you double it , you have chapter 14 and both chapters deal with the 144,000. Contrary to popular belief, they are not preachers. They are following the Lamb of God wherever He goes because , they are on Mount Zion in Heaven. They are not on earth.
7. The catching away of everyone in Revelation 21:1 and II Peter 3:8-14. What does this mean? there will be a time when God will burn this earth up and renew it. He will make it all new again. He will put it back to paradise just as it was in Genesis 1:1. God puts it back like it should have been. This is why I say that the Bible goes in a circle. Paradise lost and paradise is regained.
These are the "catching aways" or the "caught ups" as they are taught in the Scriptures.
Seven dispensations: A dispensation is a time period when God deals in a specific way with a class of people.
1. Innocence: Genesis 2:15-17, 3:24.
2. Conscience: After the fall, Genesis 3:24.
3. Human Government: Genesis 8:20.
4. Family: Abraham, Genesis 12:1.
5. Law: Exodus 1:1, 19:8.
6. Grace: John 1:17, beginning at Pentecost and running until the catching away of the saints before the tribulation. The period we are in now. (II Thessalonians).
7. The millennial reign of Christ on earth: This will be 1,000 years long. (Revelation 20:1-15, Ephesians 1:10).
Every one of these did not last 1,000 years but the seventh will run for more than 1,000 years. It has no end and covers the perfect age. (Revelation 21 and 22).
Number 8
Covenants: Covenant of covenants (Hebrews 8:8)
1. Eden: Garden of Eden, Genesis 2:8
2. Adam: Covenant God made with Adam, Genesis 3:15.
3. Noah: Covenant God made with Noah, Genesis 9:1.
4. Abraham: This is the covenant that you and I are under. It fits the dispensation of grace. (Genesis 15:18).
5. Moses: Covenant between God and Moses (Exodus 19:25).
6. David: Covenant between David and God Almighty (II Samuel 17).
7. Palestine: This covenant is interesting because it is the very covenant that Moshe Dayan and Prime Minister Begin of Israel have made reference to in defense of their holding the Golan Heights and the wall of Jerusalem (Deuteronomy 30:1-10).
8. New Covenant: (Hebrews 8:7-13).
Study and know the dispensations and the covenants and you will never get into false doctrine.
Number 9
Fruit of the Spirit. (Galatians 5:22).
Galatians is the ninth book in the New Testament. It is spelled with nine letters.
Holy Bible is spelled with nine letters, as in King James.
Isaiah 9:6 promised fruit from God.
1611 adds up to nine.
Number 10
The number 10 is the number of the Gentiles. Everyone who is not a Jew is a Gentile. Abraham was a Gentile who became a Hebrew when he crossed from the area of the Chaldeans over the river Euphrates to the land that God showed him. Hebrew means one who has crossed over the river. Jesus Christ is a Hebrew also because he crossed the rivers of Heaven. He left His throne, came to earth and dwelt in a body of flesh, being born in a stable, then went to the cross, died, was buried, and was resurrected according to the Scriptures. As a result of Abraham crossing that river and leaving his people behind, God said that he would make a nation out of him. It was to be a nation of faith (Romans 4). Abraham was a man of faith. He picked up distinct characteristics in himself that also distinguishes a Jew or Hebrew (both are the same). Garner Ted Armstrong and others teach that the only people who are Jews are those from the tribe of Judah. This, however was proven to be untrue because Paul said that he was a Jew, a pharisee and a Roman. He also said that he was from the tribe of Benjamin. Jesus Christ gave the Jews distinct features and you cannot miss them n matter where you see them.
In Daniel 2:41-44 the Gentile image given to Nebuchadnezzar in a vision had ten toes on it, which represented ten Gentile kings.
There are ten kings in power at the second coming of Christ in Revelation 17:12.
In Genesis 10 you have the genealogy of the Gentile.
In Genesis 10:10, the first Gentile kingdom the founder of which is Nimrod, who is a type of the antichrist.
In Isaiah 10:10 the Assyrian is a type of the antichrist.
In Romans 10:10, the plan of salvation for the Gentiles and their missionary call to preach.
In Acts 10, the opening of the door to the kingdom of God. The cross reference for this is Matthew 16:16-19. This is the house of Cornelius who is a Gentile.
In Exodus 10, the end of the plagues on the Gentiles.
There are ten Gentile nations disposed of by Abraham's seed in Genesis 15:19.
In John 10:16, the Gentile sheep are those of the other fold.
In Luke 10, the good Samaritan is half Jew and half Gentile.
The book of Esther has ten chapters and the whole book deals with the sovereignty of God even though it never once mentions this in the verses. It pictures Mordecai, the Jew, and Esther, his niece, being the queen. But, they are under the rule of the Gentiles. The result is Haman, representing the Devil, tries to hang Mordecai on the gallows that happened to be 50 cubits (10x5). However he gets hung on it instead. The number of death once again (10x5).
Number 11
There were twelve tribe originating out of the sons born to Jacob, who was surnamed Israel, which means, "one who wrestled with God".
There are twelve months in the Jewish calendar, thirty days to each month, and the year begins with the month Abib (April on our calendar).
The New Jerusalem has twelve gates, twelve foundations, and twelve apostle's names written there.
Jesus was 12 years old when he went up to the temple for his second visit.
There are twelve nations that will be on the earth and they will determine when the nations are to go to Jerusalem to worship.
In Revelation 12 (the number of the Jew), a woman is pictured as Israel bringing forth the Christ. The devil tries to kill him, but he gets called up into heaven.
In Genesis 12 Abraham, being given the covenant is told, "I will bless them that bless you and curse them that curse you." This still fits today. If you bless a Jew, God will bless you and if you curse a Jew, God will curse you. Hitler cursed the Jew and God cursed Hitler. Eichmann cursed the Jew and God killed him. America has blessed the Jew and God has blessed America.
Zechariah 12:10 deals with a Jew. A tremendous verse of Scripture showing the Godhead in flesh. God the Father is speaking and says that they would "look upon Me whom they had pierced." In Genesis 37:9 you begin the dream of Joseph. He sees the moon and the stars bowing down to him. That is what they did when they went down to Egypt, after they had sold Joseph into bondage. This is a type of Jesus Christ in the Old Testament. Joseph gets sold by his brethren and Jesus Christ was sold by his brethren for thirty pieces of silver. Joseph later reveals himself to his brethren and Jesus is about to reveal Himself to his brethren. In Zechariah 12:10 God the Father says they will look upon Me (Jehovah) whom they pierced. The only time God the Father (Jehovah) had flesh was when he came to earth and died in the person of Jesus Christ. Show this verse to the Russellites who come to your door and do not let them change the word "Me" to him.
Number 13
The Old Testament has thirty-nine books, (13x3). The last word is a curse. It has five letters, the number of death.
In Acts 13:39 (13x3) is the justification from the curse of the law. It took the death of the Son of God.
In Galatians 3:13 we are given the triple curse connected with the law; cursed is anyone who hangs on a tree. Jesus became a curse when he hanged on the cross.
II Corinthians 5:21 says, "For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him." Jesus became a curse for every one of us.
In I Timothy 1:19-20, we are tod that the law is for thirteen kinds of people.
In proverbs 13:13, there is a statement on unbelief.
In Joshua 13:13, is the cause of all apostasy.
Joshua 7:13 is found an accursed thing.
Eighty-five percent of the thirteens in the Bible refer to death, destruction or evil.
Ten percent are neutral and five percent are good, while the eighty-five percent refer to sin, Satan, hell, unbelief, apostasy, and judgment.
