(a brief and partial study)

The Word of God (Rev. 19:13) God the Son

In Revelation 19:13, the verse says, "and his name is called The Word of God."

I believe that most everyone agrees that the verse is speaking about the Lord Jesus Christ and that his name is called, The Word of God.

Knowing therefore, that Jesus is The Word of God, turn in the word of God, the Authorized Version 1611 King James Bible, to John chapter 1, verse 1.

 John 1:1

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Notice that the verse said that in the beginning, that Word was already there.  Also notice that the letter W, is a capital letter.  This is because The Word of God, or in this case, Word is his name.

If you still have doubts that Jesus Christ id God, you should at the very least, be able to say,  yes, the verse in John 1:1 does say that the Word was God

Very good, now read  John 1:14.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Now for a quick review of what we have so far:

Note:  If it was already in the beginning, then it wasn't created:  he already was.

(Question:  Do you believe the Word was God?  Note:  Whether or not you believe it won't change the fact.)

(Question:  When was the Word-God ever made flesh and when did the Word-God ever dwell among us?  Note:  If the Word was God, and he was, and the Word was made flesh and he was, then it should be easy to see that the flesh of Jesus is God.
- Read 1
John 4:2,3 and II John 7)

Note:  There are three distinct persons in the God Head, but the three are one.

John 10:30  Jesus says, "I and my Father are one."  These three are one, you know how they do it?  They are God, that's how!

More verses that show the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ:

Isaiah 43:3  For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour:

Isaiah 43:11  I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.

I Tim. 4:10  ...trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men,...

II Tim 1:10  But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, ...

I Tim. 2:3  For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

(Isa. 43:3 ...the Holy One...) and (Mark 1:24 ...thou art, the Holy One...)

Acts 2:27  Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

Acts 2:31  He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

(Note:  His flesh did not see corruption because it is the flesh of God.)

I Tim. 3:16  And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:  God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

(Note:  The flesh of Jesus Christ our Saviour and Lord, is the flesh of God.)

Titus 2:13  Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

John 20: 27-29  Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.  And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.  Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed:  blessed are they that have not seen and yet have believed.

Isaiah 9:6  For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given:  and the government shall be upon his shoulder:  and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.

(Question:  Friend or enemy, what child has ever been born  and he is the mighty God, The everlasting FatherThe word of God declares that he is the Lord Jesus Christ.  Please, don't answer this question by telling me what someone else told you to say.  Look at the verse and read it.  Now, read Luke 2:11  For unto you is born this say in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.  Matthew 1:21  ...thou shalt call his name JESUS:  for he shall save his people from their sins.)

(Question:  Does the word of God say in Isaiah 9:6 that, "his name shall be called The mighty God, The everlasting Father,"?  Careful, don't tell me what you think.  Tell me what it says!)

Isaiah 7:14  Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign;  Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Im-man-u-el.

Matthew 1:23  Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall call his name Em-man-u-el which being interpreted is, God with us.

(Question:  If he wasn't God with us, why did they call his name Em-man-u-el?)

I John 3:16  Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us:  and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

(Note:  The he in I John 3:16 refers back to God and says that he laid down his life for us.)

(Question:  When did God lay down his life for us?)

John 14:7-9  If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also:  and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.  Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.  Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip, he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

(Question:  What do the verses say?)

I John 5:20  And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus ChristThis is the true God, the eternal life.

Hebrews 1:8  But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever:  a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

Hebrews 9:11,12  But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building.  Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.  Read Hebrew 9:14

(Question:  Whose blood did the verse say redeem us?  Christ's blood!)

Acts 20:28  Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

(Question:  When did God ever have blood?  When God Almighty, The Lord Jesus Christ shed his blood on the cross; that's when!)

Isaiah 40:3  The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

(Note:  The voice of him that crieth is calling the One that he is crying out for, the LORD, (which is Jehovah) our God.)  Now, let's see if the word of God will tell us who did the crying our and whom he was preparing the way for.  Because, whoever this person is that the way is being prepared for, is the LORD and our God.  We need to know who he is.

Matthew 3:1-3   In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, And saying, Repent ye:  for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.  For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

(Note:  We now know that John the Baptist is the voice that crieth, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.  (As was spoken by the prophet Esaias in Isaiah 40:3)

Luke 1:41  And it came to pass that when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:

(Question:  Why would the babe in Elisabeth's womb (John the Baptist) leap when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary?)  John knew even as a babe, that his LORD and his God had just entered into the house of Zacharias, being in the womb of Mary.)  That was enough to excite John!

Luke 1:43  And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

Luke 1:46  And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord.

Luke 1:47  And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

(Note:  Jesus is not only our LORD, our God, our Saviour, he is also the Highest's Son.)

Luke 1:76  And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest:  for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord, to prepare his ways;

Luke 2:11  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

(The witness of John the Baptist) John 1:23  He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as saith the prophet Esaias.

Luke 3:15-16  And as the people were in expectation, all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he were the Christ, or not;

John answered, saying to them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose:  he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:

Luke 7:19  And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that should come?  or look we for another?

Luke 7:21-23  And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight.  Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.  And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

John 1:27-33  He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose.  These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.  The next say John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.  This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me:  for he was before me.  And I knew him not:  but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.  And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.  And I knew him not:  but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me:  upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

John 10:30  I and my Father are one.

John 10:33  The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makes thyself God.

(Note:  Jesus did not make himself God.  He has always been God and he was manifest in the flesh.)
